01 The working year

The lake sets the schedule. We just work inside it.

Ice isn't our off-season — for pipe docks it's the platform. We drive out onto it and drill through. Floating docks go in when the water's open. The dock your shoreline calls for determines which window that puts you in.

Two install windows

Pipe docks go in while there's ice, January through March. Floating docks go in on open water, May through September. Shore mounts we build either way. Which one you need comes down to your shoreline.

How far ahead to plan

A floating dock measured in summer can be in the water two or three weeks later. A pipe dock is different — it goes in on solid ice, so those builds get measured and drawn well before the ice sets.

02 Start with the ground and Shoreline

What's your shoreline?

What holds a dock up depends entirely on your shoreline. Find yours below — that's the conversation we'll have when we come out to look.

Type 01

Exposed bedrock

→ Pipe dock or shore mount

Steel pipes drilled and anchored straight into the rock. Six-inch I-beams welded across the pipe tops, box-framed, cross-braced. It doesn't shift, and you can add to it later.

Get It Measured

————————

Type 02

Sand, silt or mud

→ Helical piles

Welded steel or wood frame on flotation, in wood or low-maintenance PVC decking. Rises and falls with the lake on its own — nothing to reset when levels swing.

Type 03

Deep or moving water

→ Floating dock

Welded steel or wood frame on flotation, in wood or low-maintenance PVC decking. Rises and falls with the lake on its own — nothing to reset when levels swing.

Get It Measured

————————

Type 04

Steep or high bank

→ Rockmount shoredecks

Anchored into exposed bedrock at the water's edge. Shore mounts form a flat deck on ground that isn't so flat. Designed to provide a stable transition from land to dock.

04 HOW WE BUILD

Welded, bolted, braced.

If you're comparing quotes, these are the details worth asking every builder about. Here's exactly what you get from us.

01

Scott assesses the site himself

The person who builds your dock is the person who looks at your shoreline. What gets quoted is what gets built, by the same hands.

02

Foundation options for your shoreline

Drilled steel pipes into bedrock, helical piles in soft bottom, or flotation in deep water. Scott will tell you what your site allows, what each costs, and what it means ten years out.

03

Built where it should be built

Floating docks are fabricated in the shop and delivered complete. Pipe docks and shore mounts are drilled and welded in place.

04

Cross bracing and skirt angles

The part nobody sees, and the reason the dock is still square in year ten.

05

Pressure-treated lumber or PVC decking

PVC costs more up front and costs nothing after. Your call, and we'll give you both numbers.

06

Modular by design

Add a section, a slip or a lift later without rebuilding what's already in.

05 Who you'll be dealing with

Scott Bailey

Scott grew up in Kenora on Lake of the Woods, learning the trade from his father and grandfather. Thirteen-plus years in welding and fabrication before he started Shoreline Docks in 2020.

He's the one who comes out to look at your shoreline, the one who draws it, and the one on site when it goes in. There's no account manager in between.

06 WHAT CLIENTS SAY

Including the ones who could build it themselves.

"I have used Shoreline Docks for all of my dock projects. Work was always completed as per schedule, as per plans and as per quote. As a contractor who focuses on quality work, I have never looked elsewhere."

Yves Picyk

Owner, Sunset Decks

"Scott designed and installed my platform, ramp and floater on a very challenging shoreline. His insight to local conditions is impressive. Skill, workmanship and thoughtful approach are second to none."

Thomas Henley

Lake of the Woods

"They stick to scheduled appointment times instead of leaving you in a queue. Three years now — installs, relocations, and seasonal removal and storage. Reliable and easy to deal with."

Jared C.

Lake of the Woods

"A 36′×20′ pipe dock at our camp in 2023, then a 20′×30′ steel foundation for the new bunkie the following year. Quality to detail was beyond expectations."

Ray Reynard

Lake of the Woods

"Shoredeck, ramp and dock in 2019, extended the shoredeck in 2020, then a ramp to pull the floating dock out in 2021. Always impressed with the work they do."
